Caring for Parents at Home? Don’t Miss These Key Steps

Caring for ageing, sick, or dementia parents at home is an act of love—but love alone is not enough.

When professional caregivers are involved, proper monitoring and care management become essential. In this video, we share simple but critical steps every family must take to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of their elderly parents at home: ✔️ Installing CCTV with mobile access for transparency and safety ✔️ Ensuring daily housekeeping and hygiene ✔️ Following a proper diet timetable ✔️ Having a clear medication and nursing care plan ✔️ Monitoring daily bathing and sanitation ✔️ Keeping a trusted relative, friend, or neighbour informed ✔️ Using trackers (watch or pendant) for added safety ❗ Do not leave your parents at home with caregivers and assume everything is fine. Your small, timely actions can prevent neglect, abuse, hunger, and medical risks, and can ensure better quality care at home. If home care is not possible, there is no guilt in seeking help. Today, there are good options available—assisted living, elder care homes, and day care centres with trained professionals. This video is shared from real-life experience, where we have seen families and elders suffer due to lack of monitoring. We sincerely hope this guidance helps families provide safer, more dignified elder care. ❤️ 👉 If you found this useful, please like, share, and subscribe to support awareness on elder and dementia care. Message from Sailesh Mishra for Age With Rights Global Rally 2026

Sailesh Mishra, Founder President of Silver Innings, speaking to you from India, for Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People.

Age With Rights Global Rally 2026 — united voices across the world calling for a UN Convention on the Rights of Older People. This is a important pivotal moment to ensure that as we age, our rights to dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity are protected in law and in life.

In India, we are witnessing a rapid rise in the number of older persons, bringing both opportunity and urgent challenges. Millions of elders struggle with financial insecurity, limited access to quality health and social care, and loneliness. Many face chronic diseases, daily hardships and lack support systems.

Among them are the 8.8 million older adults living with dementia — individuals whose cognitive needs are often misunderstood and underestimated in policy and care planning. We must ensure they are not left behind, that their rights to care, dignity and participation are recognised and supported.

Ageing with rights means no discrimination, no neglect, and no silence — regardless of ability, age or condition.

Together, let’s make ageing with rights a reality for everyone, everywhere.

From Corporate Life to Caregiving: Sailesh Mishra’s Mission to Make Ageing Graceful

In this inspiring interview, meet Sailesh Mishra, a former marketing executive who gave up a successful corporate career to become a passionate advocate for India's senior citizens. He is the founder of Silver Inning Foundation, an NGO working tirelessly since 2008 to create a world where ageing is embraced with dignity, compassion, and purpose. The foundation is more than just an organisation—it's a movement that strives to make ageing a positive and rewarding experience. One of their most impactful work is A1 Snehanjali, Mumbai’s first 24x7 assisted living elder care home located in Nalasopara. Established in 2013, it provides a nurturing, home-like environment for seniors who do not require intensive medical care but do need daily support, community, and companionship. Sailesh's story is one of dedication, empathy, and action—a reminder that with the right intent, we can truly make a difference in the lives of others.

Senior Citizens issue discussed in Parliament

Rajyasabha MP Smt. Priyanka Chaturvedi brought forward important issue of Senior Citizens being ignored in Budget 2026 on 12th February 2026.

She made valid points for her discussion as under: By 2050 India’s 60+ age population would be 20% of India’s demography, out of which the most exponential rise is that of those in 80 year bracket, yet the Union Budget has failed to address their concerns:
  • Railway concessions withdrawn
  • GST between 12-18% on elderly care and essentials
-Tax Structure unchanged -Healthcare deduction under Sec 80 D and 80DDB unchanged -insurance premiums are high -no Universal Old age Pension
  • those above 60 not covered in Ayushman Bharat except those in specific categories
Earlier Joint Action Committee of Senior Citizens (JAC) had made their demand to Finance Minister ahead of Budget. After Budget was presented JAC made strong argument of Senior Citizens being continuously ignored in Central Budget. JAC Thanks MP Priyanka Chaturvedi for her support to 150 million Senior Citizens.
