This  Video is created by Silver Inning Foundation, an NGO working with Senior Citizens since 2008, on Occasion of the 10th Anniversary of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on 15th June 2015, in association with 'International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) to sensitize all stake holders and to work towards creating a Generation Friendly World.
   
   This poem is about a man who is doing everything he possibly can to improve his present and future but dismisses his old parents to the background because they could not keep up with his modern updated life style. But he is unaware to the fact that his own children are learning from him and in his old age he will be exiled to the same old back rooms that he dismissed his parents to.

   Old age is a beautiful stage in every person's life and an undeniable truth of life too.In old age physical strengths reduce but mind and heart are brimming with hopes and aspirations. But at this stage if the elderly are relegated to the back rooms their remaining life becomes hell.
   
   But young ones who do this to their old parents should remember this, that one day their own children who are observing the treatment meted out to their grand parents may think that this is the way it should be and do the same to their parents in their old age and dismiss you to the back room of their homes and lives.
   So if you want to make your future better, give your old parents respect and comfort in their old age.
   
   #‎WEAAD‬ is marked each year on June 15 as an official ‪#‎UnitedNations‬ International Day acknowledging the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. Since 2006, communities throughout the country and around the world have used this day to raise the visibility of elder abuse, by sharing information about abuse and neglect and promoting resources and services that can help increase seniors’ safety and well-being.
   
   ‪#‎INPEA‬, Elder Abuse Awareness networks and organizations across globe are planning multiple WEAAD activities across the countries to mobilize community action and engage people in discussions on how to promote dignity and respect of older adults. The key objective of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is to raise awareness of elder abuse (which encompasses neglect or mistreatment) throughout the world.

India Inc to pamper Senior Citizens:Celebrating Age –8 city Retirement EXPO 2012

'Celebrating Age', an active ageing retirement expo series is being held in all the major cities of India starting from 1^st September- 21^st October 2012 and is being organised by Vision India in association with the International Longevity Centre India Chapter and supported by the International Federation on Ageing (IFA), the Silver Inning Foundation and the Association of Senior Living India (ASLI). Social Media Partner is Silver Innings , pioneer in Elder Social media in India and Asia.

The first of the expo series is in Bangalore on September 1 and 2 followed by one at Pune on September 8 and 9 and later on at the World Trade Centre in Mumbai on September 15 and 16. The same expo continues at Ahmedabad on September 22 and 23 and in Goa on September 29 and 30. Chennai follows with the expo to be held on October 6 and 7, at Hyderabad on October 13 and 14 and the last one in Delhi on October 20 and 21.

This show is a pioneering initiative, a spirited 2012 version on qualitative ageing and productive human talent as well as the emergence of new markets. It will be addressing  the trends and tipping points that are accelerating change in consumer attitudes of those aged 50 and above. This market segment has only touched the tip of the iceberg and thus offers enormous potential to all stakeholders. The ILC-I is headed by the sterling leadership of Dr R.A.Masehlkar, renowned scientist and president of the Centre along with Dr S.D.Gokhale, who have dedicated themselves to addressing the issues of the elderly together with population ageing, which is emerging as a major challenge of the 21st century.

The challenge is to ensure that the elderly are able to lead a healthy and dignified life ahead. They should have every opportunity to pursue the activities of their choice and be treated with respect and dignity. The elderly form a rich repository of knowledge and experience and this event has been designed to showcase the activities that the elderly can participate in to enrich their retirement lives.

Apart from the workshops and conferences there will also be many fun and frolic programmes including yoga, Jazz Band,aerobics, food stalls and recreational amenities. Care has been taken to stage the programme in centrally located venues with ample space and facilities like wheelchairs, drinking water, food courts, etc to  make seniors comfortable.

ILC-I is a leading technical consultant in the field of ageing for this expo, which is essentially an exhibition of products and services in the fields of banking, insurance, health and wellness, integrated townships with senior friendly homes,  Senior housing and retirement communities,  insurance and banking, travel and leisure, vacations and resorts, hygiene and personal care,  second careers and recruitment, especially appealing to the 60 plus age groups along with younger groups in their forties too.

The highlights of the expo include showcasing the status of the event, exhibition of goods and products for the 50 plus, activities and events as well as a live performance festival. Aside from this there will be a senior officials meeting on qualitative and healthy ageing trends, recruitment desks and second career opportunities, workshops on insurance, banking, etc.
